NORWAY, the choice for the Urban-Recovery snow kite adventures is rated as one of the top snow kiting places in the world and for good reason. With exceptional annual snow fall, cold, dry air, huge frozen lakes and plenty of consistent wind, the conditions really don't get much better.
The majority of the snow kite spots are located along one of Norway's highest mountain areas, The Hardangervidda mountain plateau. This huge areas offers stabile wind conditions throughout the entire winter making it one of the best Snow kite areas on the planet and the location for the Red Bull Ragnarok which is known as the toughest snowkite race ever!
Our main snow kite practise area is located at the tiny, remote settlement of Finse which lies on the biggest Northern European mountain-plateau and between two of Norway's National Parks.
Tourism is the biggest industry in Finse but the site is also an important place for research of unspoilt natural landscape. As the winter-season lasts from October - June the place is known as a winter-paradise. Many expeditions choose to test equipment and train at Finse before heading further north to the Arctic circle.
Our special accommodation for the trip is the Fnse 1222 Hotel. Built over one hundred years ago this mountain hotel has a unique historical atmosphere. The Finse 1222 has a very cozy bar and dinning rooms with views over the lake that boast of its rich history. The food is excellent and inspired by simple, wholesome, traditional Norwegian Cuisine. It has a bar, a restaurant and it's own bakery providing fresh baked breads and the famous Finse buns every day.
The hotel rooms are simple as in any mountain lodge, but are well appointed and also with incredible views across over the lake. In the basement it even has it's own very special disco called Boggi'n.
People choose Finse 1222 as a destination because they want to explore the beautiful nature, get a break from their busy daily-life or simply just to get to know Finse's culture and history. If you're interested in alpine sports and generally desire some peace and quiet whilst being consumed by stunning natural beauty then Finse is the perfect destination for you.
