BONAIRE is a very small Caribbean island in the Dutch Antilles which makes up part of the ABC Islands. The island is located 30 miles from Curacao, 50 miles north of Venezuela, 86 miles east of Aruba and luckily lies just outside of the Caribbean hurricane belt.
Bonaire has earned a reputation for being one of the most environmentally conscious islands in the Caribbean. A leader in sustainable tourism, Bonaire believes in growth while maintaining nature and culture.
Because it's located just north of the equator visitors to Bonaire enjoy a very pleasant climate indeed. The average yearly air temperatures is 82°F (28.°C), humidly is moderate and it rains only occasionally. The ocean temperature is a very comfortable 27°C and offers incredible marine diversity due to the islands award winning, protected marine park. Combine all this this with the year-round steady tradewinds and you can see why Urban-recovery are keen to share this islands charms with other people!
Our hosts on the island will be our Dutch friend Roan Jaspers of Kiteboarding Bonaire. Roan moved to Bonaire from Holland 15 years ago and quickly decided to make it his new home and built up a successful kite and SUP school. The school teaches from a number of small boats and the students are fitted with radio helmets so the teaching and learning experience is top class.
